Hi! Welcome to the Sassy Jo's Babies and Bows website! We're so happy you found us! We're a "sassy" mother-daughter business owner duo who love being able to work with each other every day and have a lot of fun while doing so! We launched our boutique in a Facebook group (which we still have to this day! Ps: join our Facebook group for the best deals , sales, and coupon codes!) 

 

The Women Behind the Boutique 

Kelli is my amazing, "super-woman" mom who truly does it all! I don't know how she always handles everything she has to do but she does. (and she's pretty kick** at everything, too!) She is a P.E. teacher, Jr. High Athletic Director, Jr. High Assistant Softball Coach, and 8th Grade Volleyball Coach at our local Jr. High in Paxton, IL. She does all of that plus practically working full-time packaging our orders! From writing the thank you note we send in each package, steaming and inspecting the items, packaging and sending them off! I am incredibly thankful for everything she does and could definitely not do it without her! 

I'm Kelsey, and I do most of the innovation, designing, and "behind the scenes" work for our boutique! I'm finishing up my final semester in graduate school at SIUC in Plant, Soil, and Agricultural Systems - as one would expect, all of this knowledge about soil I have isn't exactly useful when designing baby clothes! Up until early 2021 I was bound and determined to be a professor in soil science BUT Sassy Jo's had a different plan for my career! When our boutique started to take off this past year I realized that I had found what I truly love to do! While I still am very passionate about agriculture, for the time being I'm going to leave that as that. A strong, loving passion and just not a career. In May, I will officially be a full-time boutique owner! Yay! 

Our Brand Story

When I was in 8th grade I saw a video showing how to make hair bows. I decided to try it out for myself and I liked doing it so I decided to start a business making hair bows. I taught my mom how to make them and we would sell them at local craft shows during fall and Christmas time. We did that for about 7 years, but it got much harder once I went to college. My class schedule didn't allow enough time to get an actual job so I had the idea of selling baby and kids clothing to match the hair bows we already had. Soon after that thought Sassy Jo's Babies and Bows was created!

We launched our website on our 1st birthday, and we also have an Etsy shop! When we started we would sell other designer's styles and brands. In order to comply with Etsy policies I decided I wanted to start designing our own styles and designs and eventually form Sassy Jo's into a clothing brand! We do still have some items that are not an exclusive to our business or with the "Sassy Jo's Babies and Bows" branding but we are phasing that part of our business out. 

We have come a long way in the past 2.5 years! We've learned so much, (who knew all that goes into running a boutique?!) made a lot of mistakes, had some arguments here and there, but most importantly I've been blessed to spend a lot of time with my best friend and woman I love most, mom.
